Deficient Approval Notices Issued

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) has reported that a recent problem resulting in the issuance of deficient approval notices has been resolved. The error occurred at the California Service Center (“CSC”) and the Vermont Service Center (“VSC”). Due to a printing error, defective extension and change of status approval notices (Form I-797) were issued that did not contain an I-94 card attached at the bottom of the document.

CSC has reported that the problem did not impact a large number of cases, and corrected approval notices are being reissued within the next 10 days. It is unclear how many applications, including premium processing requests, may have been affected at VSC.

If you received a deficient approval notice, and do not receive a corrected notice, you should contact USCIS or immigration counsel to get the problem resolved as soon as possible.
